Two years ago, Apple Vacations made our first foray into the world of social media with our own custom-built program called “Take Your Best Shot”. TYBS is a site where Apple Vacationers can upload photos and video from their vacations and be entered for the chance to Win a Free vacation or receive up to $500 in Vacation Certificates for the runners up. To date, we’ve received over 7000 picture uploads and close to 200 videos.

Among the qualifications we look for in selecting the winners are originality/creativity, production quality, commercial appeal and fan support. In generating fan support, we encourage people to post their media to other social media sites they use such as Facebook, Twiiter, and Myspace to encourage their friends to view, comment, and vote on their pics and videos. Many entrants have also posted their media to Apple Vacations’ Facebook page and encouraged our more than 5500 fans to support their bid to win.

Showing pictures of friends and family can be fun and at the same time score you your next vacation for free. We’ve seen many creative photos and videos uploaded in our previous rounds of Take Your Best Shot.  Some of the media has been truly amazing! An example of creative editing can been seen by checking out Karl Beyer’s CSI: Punta Cana or espring77’s Panoramic Maui videos, which were Finalists in Rounds 1 & 2. Put your creativity to the test and “Take Your Best Shot”. We’ve also had some really incredible pictures uploaded that you can view by clicking on the “Pics” link and sorting by Most Viewed.

So, now I put my challenge out to all of you. Let’s see who can truly take the best shot or most creative video! If anyone can top the previous winners, who knows….we might even make the prize a bit sweeter!

Tips: When loading media to TYBS make sure the file is less than 2GB.

For videos, we support the following file types:  flv, wmv, mp4, avi, mov, mpg, mpeg, 3gp

For pictures, the following: jpg, jpeg, bmp, png, gif, tif, tiff
