One of the perks of working for Apple Vacations is definitely familiarization trips. We get to tour different hotels and see first-hand what they have to offer. The exciting part is the question, where are we going to stay this time? My last “fam” to Mexico’s Riviera Maya could not be at a more beautiful place than Blue Diamond Riviera Maya. Recently opened, I did not know much about this property except what I saw in the pictures. When we arrived at the resort, my first thought was that it was incredibly peaceful and tranquil. I knew this is my kind of place. I absolutely fell in love with the property. I was so excited about my modern spacious room. Huge walk in closet, which actually could be a small room , and beautiful bathroom with make-up vanity, two rain showers and luxurious amenities made this room even more perfect. Each room has all the basics and also includes internet, free international calling, personalized mini bar stocked daily with top shelf brands, as well as outdoor bathroom and wonderful patio.
The property itself is like a little hideaway surrounded by all lush foliage. You really get a sense of privacy there since it is so quiet and soothing. Rooms are located in the villas with the outside entrance so you definitely would not feel crowded with other people.
Although the hotel has only a little bit over 120 rooms, the property is stretched and does not feel so small. You can walk around or just hop on one of the golf carts – they will also pick you up from the front of your villa at scheduled time if you wish. Blue Diamond Riviera Maya has two restaurants, which are both a la carte. It may seem like not many choices for some, but their gourmet menu, which changes daily for dinner, will make up for it. This is definitely not the place for people who want to grab something for breakfast and go. Breakfast service is also a la carte and it may take some time to be prepared so you just have to relax and enjoy beautiful views of Caribbean Sea from the restaurant.
As a beach person, I cannot forget to mention the beautiful white sand beach. For pool lovers, they offer 3 pools just in front of the beach. There is also a spa with a variety of services. The one thing I want to recommend, and I had the opportunity to experience, is a steam room followed by an ice bath. This may sound like extreme, but it was well worth it just to feel relaxed and energized at the same time. Service throughout the resort was great, happy people with a good sense of humor – they made us feel at home. If you like peace and quiet, this is a great place to relax and recharge.
It was a short but great stay. I cannot wait to come back to Blue Diamond and experience more things that this fabulous property has to offer.
