Puerto Vallarta, never been? Here are some tips from a first timer to this enchanted destination.
If you arrive during the day to Puerto Vallarta, as soon as you start driving, the first jaw dropping moment you will have is when you see the Sierra Madres in the distance. The views are stunning! Mountains on one side and the ocean on the other! Beautiful scenery! If you arrive at night, you’ll have this picturesque setting awaiting you when you wake. It is like waking up on a movie set, it is just that beautiful.
The destination itself is filled with cobble stone roads and colonial architecture blended with modern high rises. Old world charm meets modern amenities.
The rainy season is July through October and everything is even greener during these months. The waves are waiting for you in Puerto Vallarta May through July, and that is known as the best time to surf. From November through March you can go Whale Watching in Puerto Vallarta. Sea Turtle releases are November through April.
For a first timer to Puerto Vallarta, a city tour is suggested as a great way to get the lay of the land. There are three zones: North Hotel Zone, Downtown–Central, South Hotel Zone in Puerto Vallarta totaling about 55 miles that you will learn about on the tour.
Each area has a lot to offer. A favorite – The Downtown area there is so much to see and do! There is plenty of shopping, art galleries, restaurants and bars. It is very easy to maneuver. It’s a perfect mixture of old Colonial Mexico and new Modern Mexico! Be sure you hit the highlights – The 152 year old Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church (stunning), the Flea Market (satisfies the shopper) and The Malecon.
