The Latest and Greatest in Destination Wedding Trends

When it comes to Destination Weddings, one of the fastest growing aspects of the industry, things are constantly changing for the better!

Here are the FOUR latest and greatest trends in Destination Weddings.

Favors

Your guests are making the trip (and spending the money) to attend your wedding, make them feel special and show them how much you appreciate their presence with some great favors and welcome bags! Planning an outdoor beach ceremony mid-day? Delight your guests with some customized sunglasses! You can find tons on styles of plastic sunglasses online, customize the color to match your wedding and even add your initials or a fun saying like “Kate and Jim get hitched!” Your guests will appreciate the thoughtfulness and will have a practical keepsake to take home!

Cocktails

While Piña Colada’s and Strawberry Daiquiri’s are a staple of the Caribbean, put a spin on these traditional tropical drinks by adding in an unexpected ingredient to your specialty cocktails to update them a bit. For example, who doesn’t love a classic Margarita? Ask the bartender to muddle in a little fresh jalapeño and you’ve got yourself a subtle twist on this beloved classic that is sure to get all of your guests out on the dance floor!

Photos

We all know and love the “trash the dress” photos for destination weddings, but what about photos of the wedding party? Have fun with your group photos!  Add in a few props (maybe even the sunglasses you give everyone as favors), make some silly poses or get some candid shots of everyone running into the ocean! Keep in the spirit of the non-traditional destination wedding and have a blast with your group photos.

Cake

If you’re going to be having an outdoor reception (who wouldn’t with the beautiful Caribbean as your backdrop??), going with the traditional tiered wedding cake may not be your best option; heat + icing = the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Instead, most resorts will offer another cake option. Going with a dessert native to the country of your wedding will bring a touch of culture to your reception that your guests are sure to love. If you haven’t tried Tres Leches yes, you are in for a treat. This indulgent Hispanic dessert is comprised of sponge cake soaked in evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and heavy cream (get it? Tres Leches?). To say this cake is a crowd-pleaser is an understatement.
