When You Shop Vacations, Compare Apple’s to Apple’s

We understand that travelers are looking for the best value for their dollar when making a vacation purchase. We know, because not only are we working with package prices all day, but we compare pricing when we vacation ourselves. That’s how we know that when you compare package price to package price you are getting THE best deal!

Sometimes saving up to 40%

When you look are purchasing a “complete vacation package” from Apple Vacations, it typically includes round-trip airfare, hotel  accommodations,  transfers to and from the resort and all taxes and fees. When you package everything together you get the best price with Apple Vacations.

If you take each component of that vacation and price it individually, and add each item together, the price will be more. The value is when you put it all together in a package. When we run a sale or a special, the sale is also typically based on package pricing.

For example, I just now priced 2/15 for 7 nights from Philadelphia to Cancun at Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun. Individually pricing airfare, hotel, transfers and taxes, the rate is $4,668.00 for 2 people. However, the package (featuring the exact same date, hotel, transfer, taxes) is on sale, and it equals $3,098.00.

That’s for the same exact inclusions.

Individually pricing airfare, hotel, transfers and taxes for JFK to Cancun on 2/22 for 7 nights, the rate is $4,798.00 for 2 people at Now Sapphire Rivera Cancun. But again, the exact same date, flights, hotel, transfer, taxes is on sale at the package price of $3,198.00 — for the same exact inclusions!

Which price would you want to pay?

Why is this? It could be for many reasons. A hotel may offer a “special rate” that only applies to packages. The airline could be doing the same. And when they both do it at the same time, you really save!

The value is in the package price! So when you are making your vacation purchase, do yourself a favor and price the entire package together. Make your hard-earned dollar go further and get the BEST vacation you possibly can.

Contact your favorite travel agent or visit www.applevacations.com and pick out your vacation package right now!

  • Prices sampled were per person, based on double occupancy and available on 1/28/14 via Apple Vacations leisure flights. Cancun flight from Philadelphia was on Frontier Airlines 1/15. JFK was on JetBlue Airways 1/22.  Prices included government taxes and fees.

Ready to Book Your Cancun & Riviera Maya Apple Vacation? Wait no more!

Did you ever see a game show where the contestant waits until the last minute to make a decision or hit the buzzer, and they wait so long they wind up with nothing?

I LOVE game shows and have found myself on more than one occasion screaming at the screen, “push the button!” or “take the deal!”

Many people wait to book their vacations, and yes, sometimes it works out and they catch a Last Minute Special – especially if they are very flexible. But that is not always the case.

I recently returned from my vacation in Cancun’s Riviera Maya. I was pleased to see that my resort was almost 100% full. And it was not the only one.

With this current cold weather, polar vortex, snow and ice across the US, people want to see the sun. And with Cancun being such an easy flight, the resorts I spoke to were doing very well.

Especially because of the cold, friends and family call me and asking, “when are the really low prices coming out?” and “when is the next big sale?” I keep telling them that if they want to book, go ahead and book now.

Don’t wait.

We have some amazing rates to Mexico (and the Caribbean of course) right on our website www.applevacations.com. If you hesitate, the dates and resort you want might not be available for long. And prices can go up.

I was pricing out a vacation the other night and by the next morning, the same package price was $200 more per person! The hotel had sold all of the “sale rooms.”

So, thank you mother nature for making my job just a little bit easier right now. And go ahead and book that vacation to Mexico or the Caribbean right now, or you could truly be left in the cold.

Apple Vacations Phancation 2014 – Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun

Apple Vacations and the Philadelphia Phillies recently hosted over 200 Phillies Phans on “Phancation 2014” at Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun.

While much of the U.S. was in a “Polar Vortex”, Phancationers were enjoying warmer temperatures in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The group was hosted by Phillies broadcaster Scott Palmer, The Phillie Phanatic, Alumni players Tommy Greene and Greg Luzinski , current Phillies player Domonic Brown and MLB player Erik Kratz.  Kratz was traded just prior to the Phancation to Toronto, but he was still a welcome member of the group!

Phancationers were treated to private Mexican fiestas, beach parties, pool games, breakfast with the Phanatic, a private autograph session and a private photo session! Phancationers also performed in “Phancationers Have Talent” and “Phancation Idol” with the Phillies players and alumni as judges.

Some of the highlights of the week were Dom Brown’s water balloon fight, Tommy Greene’s attempt to surf in the pool, Erik Kratz trying to win the belly-flop contest, Greg Luzinski’s Jenga strategy and guest bartending and Scott Palmer and Friend of The Phanatic, Tom Burgoyne’s, “Dos Amigos” performances.

Apple Vacations had a great time with this group and even the rain showers we had while in resort, did not dampen our fun.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the ballpark in 2014! Go Phillies!

TRAVEL TIPS TO ENJOY YOUR APPLE VACATION TO CANCUN!

Phancation Logo

I cannot count the number of times I have been on an Apple Vacation. Each one has been unique and memorable. I can’t wait to add my trip to Riviera Maya this January to the list.  I will be on an Apple Vacation to Now Sapphire Rivera Cancun for the Phancation!

If you have never been to Cancun, here are my top 10 tips to have a successful trip.

1 – Get to the airport early.  For international flights, you should be there at least 2 hours prior to departure. I am always one of the first people to check-in.  You are never sorry you arrived early, but you could be sorry if you arrive late and miss the flight!

2 – Don’t forget your VALID passport.  Also, it must be valid for 6 months from the date of travel.  You will be denied boarding if you do not present this at check-in.

3 – Don’t forget the sunscreen. This is not the Jersey shore and the sun is STRONG! Apply frequently.  Missing a day of vacation because you are stuck in the room nursing sunburn is just not fun!

4 – Pack wisely.   Don’t pack too much and make sure you pack a carry on or easily accessible bag so you can hit the ground running and start your vacation! Most hotels have a check-in time of 3:00PM. However, flights usually arrive in the morning.  Expect that your room will NOT be ready when you arrive. Have a bag ready with a swimsuit or something to change into, so you can start your vacation right away.  Changing-rooms will be available and the bell man will hold your bags. Also, restaurants will be open for lunch. Resort maps will be available so you can explore and enjoy the property.

5 – Pack valuables such as jewelry, electronics and important medications in your carry on.   Then, leave them in the in-room safe when you arrive in resort.

6 – U.S. currency is widely accepted in Mexico. I, however, always do bring small bills in the form of $1’s and $5’s. This is beneficial when you make a purchase so you are not receiving too much change in pesos. Also, when you want to tip, you have small bills available. Tipping is included in the package price, but if I receive exceptional service, I tend to tip the waiters or drivers when appropriate.

7 – Don’t eat anything on vacation that would make you sick at home.  Whenever and wherever you travel, your system may react to new foods or drinks introduced.  To prevent any problems, I tend to be pro-active rather than re-active. I eat yogurt (Activia) the week before I travel.  I also make sure I have any over the counter medications with me in case I need them.

8 – Stay hydrated. Bottled water is readily available at the resort and included.

9 – Wear appropriate footwear. Hotels in Mexico & The Caribbean do not have carpet. Because of the climate, they are marble and tiled.  Be careful when near the pool or in the lobby or your room especially if there has been rain!

10 – Turn your Smart phone data off (to airplane mode) and make sure you check with your carrier on any charges you could incur if you use your phone in Mexico. Texting is usually very expensive.  My carrier has a minimal charge to use my iPhone in resort, but I have to sign up for it before I leave (and turn it off when I get back).  When I am in resort, I tend to use my iPad and communicate with family via the computer for FREE.

Holiday Shopping? STOP and Book an Apple Vacation!

This is the time of year where the holiday panic sets it. The friends and family who always have their act together ahead of time have already tweeted or posted on Facebook that their holiday shopping is done. We all have those friends right? We read the status updates and feel like we are dropping the ball (if only for just a minute).  Then we have the friends and family that are just starting to organize their lists and ask what people want. They are on their game, but just not done yet. Then, we all have our procrastinator friends and family members that make us feel good and have not even started yet!

So if you haven’t finished your shopping yet, then STOP – don’t shop! Book an Apple Vacation instead. Wouldn’t the family love to be whisked off to Mexico or The Caribbean this Holiday season? Wake up on Christmas morning, and instead of seeing white snow, they can see white sandy beaches, blue sparkling waters…replace your twinkling lights and swap the Christmas tree for palm tree.

It will cost less than you expect! Log on to our Holiday Hot Spots page and see for yourself.

And if you go away, you don’t have to clean the house or cook – sounds dreamy to me!  Book your Holiday Apple Vacation then tweet it and update your Facebook status immediately so YOU can be the one everyone is envious of – including me.
