More Tips on How to Search for the Best Vacation Package

There are a number of ways to ensure that you are getting the best vacation package available on AppleVacations.com.  In last week’s blog I mentioned our “Last Minute Deals” search.  This week I’d like to share with you some tips on using Apple Vacations’ Quick Search.  Here are some quick and easy steps.

1. Enter the number of travelers on our homepage, destination, or hotel pages.  If you are looking to book multiple rooms, or more 4 adults in 1 room, we suggest you call your travel agents for assistance.

Money Saving Tip – Generally if you are traveling with a larger party, you will receive a reduced per person price for the hotel room, however, this isn’t the case at all hotels.

2. You’ll then get a list of hotels,  sorted by price, from the least expensive on up.  There are tabs at the top of the hotel list if you are more interested in searching alphabetically for a hotel you know, or by rating to enjoy a particular level of comfort. Continue reading

Strolling El Malecón in Puerto Vallarta

090611_malecon1If you haven’t yet been to Puerto Vallarta, you’ve got to go. It’s at the top of my list for favorite places in Mexico. One of the great things about Vallarta is the diversity of things to do while you are there. From exploring the Sierra Madre Mountains, walking the cobblestone streets of downtown Vallarta, whale watching in Banderas Bay to strolling El Malecón, there’s something for everyone.

For me, my favorite nighttime activity is to walk the El Malecón promenade and enjoy the booming music from the nightclubs, mingle with the various locals and tourists taking in the nighttime air as the breeze blows in from the Ocean and perusing the various wares on sale from the artists. Once I’m finished my stroll….it’s time to hit the clubs. For those who’ve never been here’s a quick hit list of clubs within walking distance of El Malecón that you might find interesting. How to Navigate AppleVacations.com

avatar

090604_siteWhen navigating a website, there are many ways to find information. I generally like to go right to the root of the information I’m looking for before going on a wild goose chase. That’s why the site map is often my favorite place. On AppleVacations.com you can find the site map as a link towards the very bottom of the page.  The site map will allow you to drill down to the page you are looking for by clicking on the expand button and searching alphabetically.

Here are a few other places I recommend that visitors begin their search:

  • Flights link will detail all of the major departure cities our vacation flights depart from along with the day of the week and the duration the flights.
  • Our newly enhanced specials page – most times, you can find this menu by clicking on the Last Minute Deals ad on our homepage. This new technology allows you to sort specials by highest to lowest price, specific durations, multiple gateways. All with ease and speed.

Check out some of these features and let me know what you think. In the coming months we’ll add more based on your feedback. Enjoy your visit!

Nightlife in Playa del Carmen

Pez Vela Bar & RestaurantOne of my favorite spots to visit when I’m vacationing in the Riviera Maya is 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen.  Most hotels offer a complimentary shuttle, or you can take a taxi or local bus.  On my most recent visit to Riviera Maya, I stayed at the Iberostar Tucan and the taxi ride only set me back $5.  5th Avenue is a great place to visit for shopping or a few drinks during the day, and it is even better at night when many of the nightclubs come alive.

I enjoy having a few drinks and people watching.  My favorite spot for daytime fun is a corner bar called Pez Vela.  Pez Vela is located just a short stroll from the main shopping plaza on 5th Avenue and Calle 2.  But I have to say, my favorite feature at Pez Vela are the bar stools.  Well, they’re not exactly stools…they’re swings.  You can swing at the bar, have a few drinks, watch sports on the big screen TV or, if you’re not too dizzy from the swings, you can play a game of pool.  The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is good.

Pez Vela is a fun casual place to enjoy your day or to take a break from shopping.  It opens early in the morning and is usually busy until around midnight.  So next time you’re in Playa, be sure to stop by and go for a swing.  Who knows… I just might be right next to you.
