Havana Nights, Honeymoon Style

Cuba Dayz

Walk it, read it, watch it – learn about the history and experience the ins and outs of vintage Havana.

I would normally say that by a certain age (in your 30’s) it’s time to retire your neon colored clothes, any over-sized prints or outdated fits. However, when traveling to a “dated” destination like Cuba, it’s not only acceptable to make the old new again, it’s actually the style there. Bright lights and antique buildings, we’re dressing up and cruisin’ round this 50’s city…

As if you’ve traveled back to the future in Cuba, the cars, paint and architecture are original, yet worn. There is a sweet charm with strong character there. And, some of the best things have yet to change like the decor, the dancing, music, food scene and personality!

To me, Cuba is a dream destination for a couple; there is nothing sexier than dancing the night away with your partner, listening to the local jazz band by a beach cafe or sipping on Cuba Libres after an antique car tour around town.

Don’t just enjoy the ride, play along. Take advantage of the style warp and bring your most flavorful wardrobe. Here are some outfit ideas and essentials that will liven up your style and thrive in the streets of Havana during your stay*.

*This same wardrobe will also pack well for your overnight in Miami, the other city of neon nights…

Apple Vacations “People to People” Trip in Cuba!

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Cuba on a “People to People” trip.

With the recent relaxation of regulations to obtain required licenses for travel to Cuba, the island nation has become more available to eager travelers from the United States. On our trip, we visited several different regions of the country, starting in Trinidad, then on to Cienfuegos (both in central Cuba). We also visited Havana and Old Havana (both in western Cuba).

It was an unforgettable experience and I can’t wait to share my blogs with you, including travel tips and highlights of each region.

First off, my overall impressions and favorite experiences in Cuba.

Mike Quick (#82) & Harold Carmichael (#17) at Barcelo Bavaro Palace Punta Cana.

Mike Quick (#82) & Harold Carmichael (#17) at Barcelo Bavaro Palace Punta Cana.

The NFL draft is upon us.

And in Philadelphia, there has been plenty of speculation about where the Philadelphia Eagles are going to ultimately pick and which players will be a member of the Eagles by the end of the weekend.

Apple Vacations works with several of the NFL teams on come-along trips and calendar shoots, so we often follow teams from season-to-season. Over the years we’ve had the honor of hosting two local legends in resort – Eagles pro–bowl wide receivers, Mike Quick (#82) & Harold Carmichael (#17). Both are still very active in the Philadelphia sports community.
