I would normally say that by a certain age (in your 30’s) it’s time to retire your neon colored clothes, any over-sized prints or outdated fits. However, when traveling to a “dated” destination like Cuba, it’s not only acceptable to make the old new again, it’s actually the style there. Bright lights and antique buildings, we’re dressing up and cruisin’ round this 50’s city…

As if you’ve traveled back to the future in Cuba, the cars, paint and architecture are original, yet worn. There is a sweet charm with strong character there. And, some of the best things have yet to change like the decor, the dancing, music, food scene and personality!

To me, Cuba is a dream destination for a couple; there is nothing sexier than dancing the night away with your partner, listening to the local jazz band by a beach cafe or sipping on Cuba Libres after an antique car tour around town.

Don’t just enjoy the ride, play along. Take advantage of the style warp and bring your most flavorful wardrobe. Here are some outfit ideas and essentials that will liven up your style and thrive in the streets of Havana during your stay*.

*This same wardrobe will also pack well for your overnight in Miami, the other city of neon nights…

Endless Love

By: Stylist Melissa Lynn

It may not be summer yet, but we’re dreaming of our next endless love. But, for those who are headed to a romantic destination this month, I recommend a spot that has the best of both worlds: a vacation is complete with Unlimited-Luxury®, but also privacy,  suits, sand and spa? Count me in, in Cancun.

Whilst away, celebrate your sexiness with these suggested dresses that he can’t look away from. My favorite styles include wrap dresses, long maxis and rompers. No matter the length, these dresses have subtle silhouettes that highlight features every woman needs to show off.

Styles:
The sexiest part of a woman can be her back, collarbone (true!) and legs. Showcase your assets with these fits: Open back, halter top and/or side slit.

Design&Detail:
Ditch the typical tropical cotton and try more delicate, yet versatile materials like chiffon, ruffles and softer prints. This simple detail will upgrade your outfit without being uncomfortable or overdressed. Plus, they can work double duty: beach day cover-up then off to a dinner date.

Colors:
Don’t be too on-the-nose, think “on the beach”. While red is the staple color of love, instead, try nudes and blush (pink). Neutral tones are chic and pair nicely with sunsets, sand and blue hues of the ocean and gemstones.

The exception(s) the to rule:
Black: Flattering and sexy
White: Brightens your vibe, and the look of your fresh tan ;)

Accessories: You wear your heart on your sleeve, now try on your wrist or neck. Charms and chokers, hearts, rose-gold and diamonds say it all. And for those long walks (on all surfaces) pack a wedge!

Love in the Sun

By: Stylist Melissa Lynn

As February begins, we start to the prep for plans with loved ones, so why not pay special attention to what we pack when we are wearing less? (Wearing less to the beach that is!) You’re under the sun, and love is in the air. A great way to maintain those sexy beach vibes is with a little opposite effort!

  1. LACES OUT. Swap the typical floral prints for a some lace or crochet to show some skin.
  2. Toss those ‘flops. An alternative slip-on sandal in patent or a strappy wedge is great, and MUCH easier on all surfaces, even sand!
  3. Kiss your hair with highlighting treatments, and let the salty sea do the work.
  4. Opt for nudes or blush colors to set the tone instead of bright colors.
  5. Cover up and out. A sheer cover-up works well to wear at the beach or as a dress!
  6. A natural glow looks good. However, be safe, not sorry. Bring a hat, and use a sheer foundation that includes sunscreen for healthy fun in the sun.

Now that’s a day well-spent at the beach, babe.

Last Looks: Mix/Match and Pack 2015 to 2016

By: Stylist Melissa Lynn
Who said you have to follow any rules in fashion, anyways? They are more like guidelines gathered by a select skilled group (You’ve seen the Devil Wears Prada, I assume) who take inspiration from cultures and the lifestyles we live from the streets and cities beyond each season to create a trend or looks.

We say, find a signature style that’s yours by collecting from the places you’ve been and adventures you’ve had (or going to) with local items along the way. Or, when not traveling know what to wear, wherever you go.

Prepare to carry over any of these styles in your carry-on to 2016!
Highlights of 2015 trends that are wear-anywhere-ready will get you going in the right direction. We’ve seen these styles and accents in seasons’ gone so save your pennies and pick these styles to pack into the new year.

Not So Basics Plain, Plaid and Pleats

Last year, we saw a lot of monochromatic looks (think 50 shades of gray tones), mixed prints and sharp silhouettes. This year, you can roll up your sleeves and redux with the best of the white (shirt/blouse), extend and expand with plaid and tighten your waistline with a knife pleat for basic added detail for mix and match, easy pack.
