Holiday Travel Gift Ideas

flipcameraWhat do you buy this holiday season for the person on your list, who loves to travel? You can always buy them an Apple Vacations’ gift certificate. If you need something else to stuff in their stocking, there are lots of cool holiday travel gadgets out there. Travel scales are a very popular item. With increased costs on overweight bags, travelers don’t want to incur extra baggage fees. Travel water bottles are also a hot one. I however personally can’t wait to use my new FLIP camcorder.  It is a Camcorder that is the size of a regular camera. You can buy them in a few different sizes and colors. They record up to 2 hours of video. They are easy to use and carry. The best feature of the FLIP is that they plug right into your computer or laptop so it is super easy to download the videos. FLIP’s are also very affordable; on sale you can get one around $125.00.  So you don’t mind taking it on vacation. If you unfortunately lose or break it, it’s not a hard loss like a $500.00 video camera. So watch out Riviera Maya, I’ll be there soon with my new FLIP!

Trip Protection

A couple of weeks ago I booked some girls I know to go away on an Apple Vacations’ Girlfriends Getaway. I gave them pricing, recommended the best hotels, told them about trip protection, private transfers, preferred perks, optional excursions and everything I could.

They wanted it all – a great hotel, an upgraded room, private transfers, but no trip protection. I told them they needed to buy it for peace of mind. You just never know. It not only has pre – departure cancellation benefits, but it also covers you in resort. They said there would be nothing in this world that would keep them away from this trip….. Well fast forward a few weeks and it is almost time to go, and that nothing turned in to something. Something completely unexpected and totally unforeseeable happened a month before their travel date. Thankfully, they had the trip protection from Apple Vacations.

Whenever someone asks my opinion, I don’t give this as an option. I don’t feel it is. Everyone should take it. I always do. Apple Vacations Offers a few different levels of trip protection. Make sure you look into it next time you travel. I have said it before and I’ll say it again…. you will never regret taking it, but you may regret not.

Common sense goes a long way in keeping you healthy

At a party the other day my sister in law said I might cancel my trip to Mexico, I don’t want to get sick. I said why stay home you might get even sicker!  Something like 400 kids called out sick at my son’s school the other day between stomach bugs and fall colds. I say get me away! Mexico sounds great.

I know the flu and water concerns may make people leery of travel. I say get over it.  That is my personal opinion. I’m not a doctor, but this is the advice I can offer from my personal experience. A conscientious traveler, who prepares and takes minor precautions, will have a great trip. I can honestly say, in my 20 years in the travel business, I have never gotten sick because of the environment I am in. Tequila, well that may be another story. But I do understand the concerns, I was worried taking my son away last year and packed all sorts of over the counter medications, but we honestly never needed any.
