Holiday Travel Gift Ideas

flipcameraWhat do you buy this holiday season for the person on your list, who loves to travel? You can always buy them an Apple Vacations’ gift certificate. If you need something else to stuff in their stocking, there are lots of cool holiday travel gadgets out there. Travel scales are a very popular item. With increased costs on overweight bags, travelers don’t want to incur extra baggage fees. Travel water bottles are also a hot one. I however personally can’t wait to use my new FLIP camcorder.  It is a Camcorder that is the size of a regular camera. You can buy them in a few different sizes and colors. They record up to 2 hours of video. They are easy to use and carry. The best feature of the FLIP is that they plug right into your computer or laptop so it is super easy to download the videos. FLIP’s are also very affordable; on sale you can get one around $125.00.  So you don’t mind taking it on vacation. If you unfortunately lose or break it, it’s not a hard loss like a $500.00 video camera. So watch out Riviera Maya, I’ll be there soon with my new FLIP!

Apple Vacations Exclusive One – Week Sale to Palladium!

palladiumToday we announced a very special One–Week sale to Palladium Hotels & Resorts. This one is extra special because Apple Vacations is one of the only tour operators that offers Palladium! So in addition to the exclusive product, we have even more amazing prices now too! Palladium Hotels & Resorts in Mexico & The Caribbean are really great for couples, singles and families. They have something for everyone. I have sent a friend on a “Family of Five” trip to Riviera Maya, since they could get one room for their entire family and not pay extra for a second room. They were very happy to save money with one room, and also to have their children in the room with them. I have also sent friends to both Punta Cana and Riviera Maya, who were couples and they had a great time as well. They liked the restaurant choices and lively atmosphere. Palladium Hotels & Resorts are some of Apple Vacations most popular resorts in The Riviera Maya and in Punta Cana. Click here for more details on the Palladium One - Week sale.

Are you ready for some football?

090825_football1I am an avid sports fan. The Phillies and Eagles are at the top of my list. I always saw ads for “Superbowl on the beach” or watch “the game” from the beach … but never until I experienced it did I realize how much fun it is!

Many of the resorts show the night time NFL (NBA etc…) games ON THE BEACH! Dreams is where I stayed to experience this. I have done it at both Dreams Tulum and Dreams Cancun, although the major sporting events they show at all The Dreams Resorts. …Read More>>

Memories from the Beach

090811_beach1I am a beach lover. I am also someone who loves to float, swim, snorkel, play, or even just stand and chat with friends in the ocean.  I love looking at the ocean, listening to it, smelling the saltwater scent, but most of all, I love submersing myself in it. If given the choice, I will always opt to sit in the sand on the beach and swim in the ocean rather than be poolside while on vacation. That’s just my preference.

The average beach-goer brings a plethora of paraphernalia along with them for a day at the beach. A variety of suntan lotions, a hat or visor, sunglasses, aquatic shoes, perhaps something to read or some sort of listening device, a camera to capture memorable moments, snorkel, fins, goggles…these are just some of the items we bring to the beach to entertain us.

In addition to many of these standard items, my personal beach bag includes one rather unique item… …Read More>>

What’s Your Favorite Drink?

090805_drinksWhen I think of The Caribbean Islands or Mexico… an image conjured up is always a fancy little drink with a fruit wedge and a little umbrella. Ahhhh… paradise sitting on the beach, feet up with one of these in my hand.

If you don’t know what to order, or even if you have a drink at home, when in resort always ask the bartender what their specialty is or what the specialty of the hotel is. Most of them have one. It’s always fun to try new things and watching the bartender make the drink is usually half the fun. Most places even have a kids drink menu or kids specialty drink as well. My son loves to try them all.

If you don’t like hard alcohol (I know I just can’t do it) you can always try one of the non alcoholic drinks or a local beer. I love strawberry daiquiris sans the alcohol during the day on the beach or at the pool. Or try a local libation: The Bahamas has Kalik Beer, Jamaica has Red Stripe, the Dominican Republic has Presidente, and we all know that Mexico has Corona - but they also have Dos Equis, which is popular at many of the hotels and restaurants.

So what’s your favorite drink on vacation?

P.S. Remember drink responsibly and not in the sun!
